Exterior EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) insulation board systems are the foundation of ETICS/EIFS facade insulation. Two Bautex products serve critical roles in this system: adhesive foam for bonding insulation boards to the substrate quickly and with good coverage; and alkaline-resistant fiberglass mesh embedded in the base coat to reinforce the entire facade skin. The combination of secure board adhesion and well-embedded mesh determines the long-term performance of the insulation system.
Prime substrate wall surface if required for adhesion or if dusty/contaminated
Apply adhesive foam to the back of EPS insulation boards in perimeter and interior bead pattern
Press boards firmly to wall; wedge level; allow foam to cure (minimum 2 hours before plastering)
Mechanically fix boards with insulation anchors after foam cure — anchors are mandatory in ETICS systems
Apply base coat mortar to board surface; embed fiberglass mesh (145–160gr/m²) in wet coat
Overlap mesh joints minimum 100mm; apply diagonal corner pieces at all openings
Allow to set; apply second base coat; allow full cure before primer and finish
Adhesive foam provides immediate provisional hold while curing — no propping required on flat walls
Full perimeter+interior bead adhesive pattern ensures full bond and no hollow sections
CE-certified fiberglass mesh completes the certified ETICS system
Kosovo-manufactured products — short lead times for construction season delivery
Both products available from one supplier — compatible, tested together in site conditions
Using adhesive foam as the only fixing — mechanical anchors are required in all ETICS systems
Applying adhesive foam to damp or frozen board surfaces — adhesion is poor
Not allowing foam to cure before mechanical anchor installation — anchorage into uncured foam lacks pull-out strength
Insufficient mesh overlap at board joints — board joints are the highest-stress locations for the base coat
Using the wrong mesh weight — standard 145gr for residential; 160gr+ for commercial or high-wind zones
Can adhesive foam replace mortar for bonding EPS boards?
Adhesive foam is an alternative to mortar bonding for EPS boards and is faster on site. However, mechanical anchors are still mandatory in all certified ETICS systems regardless of bonding method.
What mesh weight for insulation board systems?
145gr/m² is standard for residential ETICS. For commercial buildings, high-wind-load zones, or facades subject to impact, use 160gr/m² minimum.
Does adhesive foam work on all substrates?
Adhesive foam is compatible with concrete, masonry, and brick substrates with good adhesion. Polished or contaminated surfaces require priming or mechanical preparation first.
